Tourism Ireland, in partnership with Fáilte Ireland and the German tourism foundation Willy Scharnow-Stiftung für Touristik, invited travel agents to Leitrim this week.
Representing 15 travel agencies across Germany, the travel agent’s visit aims to familiarise with Ireland and its superb tourism to be better informed and enthusiastic while advising clients on planning and booking their holidays in Ireland.
The group’s action-packed itinerary included visiting The Shed Distillery and staying overnight at The Landmark Hotel in Carrick-on-Shannon.
Nadine Lehmann, Tourism Ireland’s Manager in Germany, said, “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite this group of German travel agents to Ireland to experience at first-hand the wealth of things to see and do here for German holidaymakers.
“Seeing is believing – and our aim is that when they return home, they will be even more enthusiastic about the destination, helping to secure a greater share of their business for Ireland in 2023 and beyond”, added Nadine.
Tourism Ireland is responsible for promoting the island of Ireland overseas as a leading holiday destination. In 2019, the organisation welcomed 11.3 million overseas visitors delivering a revenue of over €5.9 billion.
