Exciting events are coming to The Glens Centre this month, with the folk American trio The Raines taking to the stage on March 8 at 8pm.

The Raines is a folk/Americana trio based in Galway, composed of Ruth Dillon, Yvonne Tiernan, and Juliana Erkkonen. The three have used their collective experience and influences to create a unique and pure sound, writing strong and melodic songs that weave in and out of vocal harmony and countermelody, interlaced with tender and rhythmic strings.

The band has been making waves in the music scene, with their last five singles going to No.1 on the iTunes charts. Tickets are €18/15.

An original one-act comedy written by Joel Smith Ante Beckett also comes to The Glens Centre on Friday 14 at 1pm, 5pm and 8pm.

The play centres around a single character, a Samuel Beckett-type figure dealing with his present life, his mother's womb, and the one he is preparing to face in the vast world beyond.

The play reflects Beckett's work, and themes are written and performed in the playful rhythm and style synonymous with his plays and suitable for an audience with or without previous knowledge of his work.

Tickets are €10 including soup and roll at 1pm and complimentary drink at 5pm and 8pm.

On March 22, the Youth Theatre show Lights! Camera! Detention! comes to The Glens Centre.

A school descends into chaos when a haughty documentary Director and his long-suffering Assistant arrive for filming. With wannabe superstars, teachers long overdue retirement and chewing gum left in unexpected places - there is more to bargain for at St Michael's Secondary School. Tickets are €10/5.

The Glens Arts Centre Live also presents 'Campbell Jensen' on Saturday, March 30, at 8pm.

Ashley Campbell and Thor Jensen form a unique meeting of musical genres as the duo Campbell/Jensen.

With Ashley coming from the world of country and Americana and Thor having a diverse background from rock to gipsy jazz, they create a fresh sound as a duo.

Their debut album, "Turtle Cottage", is out now. Tickets are €20/17.
