Praise for Casey after banishment from the Traitors Ireland after three dramatic votes

“ ‘Oh that is what a faithful would do,’ No, that is just what a nice fella would do.”
Leitrim’s Donal Casey was banished from Slane Castle after a dramatic third vote on Tuesday night's The Traitors.
It came down to the wire between Donal and Carla as the faithfuls voted the wrong way and banished Donal.
The table was in tears as the faithfuls voted for Casey, who was in tears himself, and in devastation when they realised what they had done.
The day started with Donal and Anna wondering who had taken the shield; little did they know the man himself, Diego, walked in just after them.
At breakfast, players learned that Sean C, “the leader of the faithfuls,” had been murdered by the traitors the night before.
The night before, Sean C had told Donal to go after Carla, and he had her name on his lips straight away the next morning.
First thing in the morning, Donal was on the money when he and Anne were talking about Carla as a traitor.
“Aoife was brought on as a scapegoat; get rid of her straight away,” said Donal over breakfast as the pin began to drop around the group.
Pauric tried his best to help his Traitor partner, Carla, whose name began spreading between people's lips like wildfire.
The side chats began as faithfuls tried to work out who the traitors were; meanwhile, the traitors went in with their big spoon and stirred the pot.
Carla knew she was under pressure straight away, waking up and choosing “violence”. She kept pressing the shield, chaos pressing theories about DJ and Diego.
Pauric went about setting Donal and Kayleigh against one another.
The challenge saw the players kidnapped and asked who they were willing to stab in the back, literally. Tied up in a barn, they had to find their way out and stab voodoo dolls of each other in order to win shields.
There was a doll of Siobhan with a shield, and if someone chose to stab it, they would get the shield but not more money for the group.
Pete suggested that they all stab themselves; in the end, he was the last to be free, and the group asked him to take the shield … though not everyone was happy about it.
Donal was not optimistic about his prospects of winning the game, “My problem is, I am never winning; they’ll bring me the whole way and recruit me at the end as a decoy, get rid of me, and win.”
Carla took control of the round table by dragging up the shield chaos from the night before. Setting in motion an argument between Anna, Diego and DJ.
Donal took his life into his hands when he went after Carla and her behaviour throughout the day. It quickly descended into an argument between Kayleigh and him about what was said in a conversation between them earlier in the day.
Meanwhile, Janet was on the money. Reasoning that Aoife might have been recruited, she wasn't happy about it and voted for the person who recruited her in retaliation.
Carla deflected brilliantly.
In the end, it was a three-way tie between Kayleigh, Carla, and Donal.
The three had a minute to plead their case.
“I just feel like again and again I have had to just prove myself, and I just hope the faithful make the right decision and we can get the two traitors. And if that means that me not being a good enough faithful, then I will go home happy. I am not here to beg, so,” he said in his closing argument.
After the second vote, Donal and Carla were again tied.
They voted again, nearly everyone in tears.
“I am older than you, but I actually look up to you. You are an amazing person. I hate to do it, but I have to vote for you,” said Pete, voting for Donal.
“My God, I hope you are a traitor,” said Kayleigh, also voting for Donal.
After the third vote, a one-vote majority saw Donal banished.
As he went to the stage to make his departing remarks and announce whether or not he was a traitor, some of other players already began to realise their mistake.
“I am not a crier, by the way,” he said.
“Listen, what an experience, everyone of you, I thought you were unbelievable; we got out four … I better cut the crap; I am and always have been a faithful.”
After the banishment, Ian from Dublin summed up the suspicion that was level towards Donal throughout the game up:
“Some of his nice attributes that he had, being a genuinely nice person, he was being questioned on - ‘Oh that is what a faithful would do,’ No, that is just what a nice fella would do.”
