Shuttle buses to bring music fans home from Drumhierny festival

No on-site parking as Night and Day Hideaway Sessions welcomes Damien Dempsey to Leitrim
Shuttle buses will carry music fans from Drumhierny Woodland Hideaway to Leitrim Village and Carrick-on-Shannon following this Saturday’s major Night and Day Hideaway Sessions festival.
The buses will depart every 30 minutes between 10.30 p.m. and midnight, allowing festival-goers to travel safely after the event. There will be no public parking at Drumhierny for the festival on Saturday, September 19.
Festival parking will be available at the Leitrim Gaels GAA grounds, approximately a 15-minute walk from the estate. Festival-goers are also being encouraged to use Local Link services, which operate to Leitrim Village from Carrick-on-Shannon and Drumshanbo.
Drumhierny is around a ten-minute walk from Leitrim Village, with a footpath and lighting along the route. From the estate’s main gate, it is a further five-minute walk to the festival stages. Alison Moffatt, marketing and sales manager at Drumhierny Woodland Hideaway, said organisers wanted to make travelling to and from the event as straightforward as possible.
“We’re encouraging people to utilise public transport and the Local Link,” she said.
“It is a great facility for the community. Buses run to Leitrim Village from Carrick-on-Shannon and Drumshanbo, and it is only a ten-minute walk from the village to Drumhierny Estate.” The event will be the largest Hideaway Sessions concert held at Drumhierny to date, with Damien Dempsey taking to the main stage at 9pm.
Music will begin from approximately 2.30pm and continue across three stages throughout the estate. The line-up includes Áine Tyrrell, The Vibes, Fair Green, Emma Langford, Kit James, Sexy Tadhg, Cedar Dobson and Gabriel Gonzalez.
A traditional Irish music stage will also be led by the O’Carolan Collective. “There are artists coming through as well as Damien Dempsey as the headliner,” Alison said.
“We’re trying to touch on different elements of music and bring local musicians into it. We have people coming from all over the country, so it is an opportunity to put ourselves on the map and give artists a platform.” The festival marks a new partnership between Drumhierny and the organisers of Night and Day, which attracted more than 10,000 people to Lough Key Forest Park this summer.
“We’ve had amazing feedback from the locality and at a national level,” Alison said. “We’re trying to create something unique in the woodlands and bring big names to this part of the country.”
A healing space run by Anchored Ascension will open at 2pm, offering breathwork, yoga, meditation, Reiki, gentle movement and intuitive energy readings. Sauna sessions will also be available in the wellbeing sanctuary. The festival will run from 2pm until 11pm and is strictly for over-18s. Tickets remain available, but advance booking is essential.
