First Leitrim baby of the year welcomed at Sligo University Hospital

Proud parents Fiona and Trevor Seery from Ballinaglera, County Leitrim, with their new baby boy, Rowan Michael Seery, born on New Year's Day at Sligo University Hospital.

Leitrim can lay claim to the first baby of 2026, born at Sligo University on New Year's Day, it has been confirmed. 

Sligo University Hospital welcomed its first new arrival of 2026 with the birth of baby Rowan Michael Seery.

Rowan made his entrance at 3.32am on Thursday, January 1st, bringing great joy to his proud parents, Fiona and Trevor Seery from Ballinaglera, County Leitrim.

"The New Year baby marks a special and joyful start to 2026 for his family and for staff at the hospital," a hospital spokesperson said.
