According to reports, the FAI are in the latter stages of the process of appointing the next name to become the Republic of Ireland manager.
The Boys in Green, who have been without a manager since November following Stephen Kenny's departure, play Belgium and Switzerland at the Aviva Stadium in March.
The Irish Examiner has reported that a manager could be in place for the upcoming UEFA Nations League draw in Paris on February 8 - pending approval from the FAI board.
Odds have slashed on England under-21 boss Lee Carsley over the weekend after it emerged that he was the favourite candidate to land the job.
Former Celtic manager Neil Lennon is also reportedly in the reckoning while ex-Ireland international Chris Hughton, who is currently managing Ghana at the Africa Cup of Nations, has been ruled out of the race.
As per the reports, an FAI board meeting is due to take place on January 30 where the picture will become clearer on who will be appointed as the Irish boss.
