Warning of 'dangerous' roads amid snow and ice weather blast for Ireland

Met Éireann has forecast falls of sleet and snow with snowfall accumulations expected in Leitrim and Connacht.

The national forecaster warns of hazardous travelling conditions, poor visibility and travel disruption

The warning is valid from 5pm on Saturday, January 4 to 5pm on Sunday, January 5. 

It also covers Leinster, Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Clare, Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford, in addition to Connacht.

The national forecaster also stressed that further warnings will be issued in the coming days as the precise track of snowfalls becomes clearer.

Temperatures could drop to as low as minus 10C on Tuesday night.
