The site has gone on sale for close to €1 Million

A site with the potential for a 72 Bed hostel to be built on it has gone on sale in Carrick-on-Shannon.

In March, permission was granted to Goldpine Partnership for the construction of the hostel building at the site located at Flynns Field, Townspark, Carrick-on-Shannon.

This week the site went on sale for €900,000 in a deal which would allow the buyers the opportunity to continue the project, which could see the 244-bed accommodation erected in the town centre.

The permission also included the associated ancillary works for a hostel, including reception, café, co-working area, luggage storage, administration offices and service rooms.

Gordon Hughes Estate Agents, who are handling the sale, describe it as “a rare opportunity to acquire a Ready to Go Hostel Site.”

The 3522 SQ.M. property has the potential to house a three-storey mixed-use building, with a purpose-designed tourist hostel, including three retail units at ground floor level.

The property would be a point of employment and improve the tourism infrastructure in South Leitrim Town, which is “a major tourism and leisure hub in the north-west, with strong year-round visitor traffic.”

The town has direct rail services to Dublin Connolly, road links via the N4 and N61, and close proximity to key population centres across the north west.

The build would only be able to host guests for a maximum of 14 days, according to Gordon Hughes Estate Agents.
