In Pictures - “It’s about trying to get breastfeeding normalised in Leitrim for families”

An exciting new initiative, Leitrim’s “We’re Breastfeeding Friendly” was launched last week in the Landmark Hotel to coincide with National Breastfeeding Week. The 2023 theme of National Breastfeeding Week is “Making our communities and workplaces more breastfeeding friendly.”
Speaking to the Leitrim Observer, Laura Horan explained that her daughter has Down Syndrome and she is one of the facilitators of the Extra Special Parent and Toddler Group in Mohill, which is a group for children with the condition.
“Me and my colleague Grainne are here today and Grainne is here with her daughter Grace, who was also breastfed,” she said.
Ms Horan, who is also a member of the Mohill Friends of Breastfeeding group, continued: “They have been so supportive and helpful to us. Katie, my daughter was breastfed until she was 16 months.
