The marathon, sometimes unpredictable, and intense election count for Sligo-Leitrim-South Donegal has finally concluded. Just before 1am, Marian Harkin (IND) and Eamon Scanlon (FF) were declared elected, securing the final two seats.
Harkin made a remarkable comeback in what was a very uncertain count for her at times, but she held out hope and ultimately secured re-election. There are people on the ground here calling her the Lazarus of the race.
For Scanlon, it's a triumphant return to the Dáil for the third time. Scanlon served in the Dáil from 2007 to 2011, and again in 2016 to 2020 until he lost his seat.
Michael Clarke (II) was the last candidate to be excluded.
Sligo-Leitrim sees one seat each for Fine Gael, Sinn Féin, Fianna Fáil and Independent.
Elected TDs are Frank Feighan (FG), Martin Kenny (SF), Eamon Scanlon (FF) and Marian Harkin (IND).
The election count in Sligo-Leitrim for General Election 2024 has come to a close.
- Frank Feighan - 12,241
- Martin Kenny - 15,433
- Eamon Scanlon - 10,285
- Marian Harkin - 10,168
