Boyle man's Lusitania animation to appear on Nationwide tonight

A Roscommon student will have his animation work featured on RTÉ’s Nationwide tonight, February 16.

19-year-old Boyle student, David McGee attends Trinty College Dublin’s  Lir National Academy of Dramatic Arts. He has been producing animations of famous ship sinkings in his spare time and showing them on his YouTube channel.

David has been doing animations since he was 14. The Lusitania animation has been viewed over 1.3m times.

David’s animation shows the last 18 minutes of the passenger liner Lusitania which was torpedoed off the Cork coast in May 1915 with the loss of nearly 1,200 lives.

It took almost 6 months to complete.

His work has been widely admired by professionals across the world. He has been approached for projects around the world. 

The Nationwide Lusitania special will be broadcast on RTÉ1 at 7pm tonight and on RTE1+1 at 8 pm and is available thereafter on the RTÉ Player.
