The Anvil CD launch

Marie Reilly an accomplished fiddler player from Co. Longford, recently released a CD, “The Anvil”, a dedication to her father, Michael Reilly from Drumreilly.

The Anvil is a collection of some of the rarest and most delightful tunes of South Leitrim and Longford, a region with a distinctive fiddling tradition, passed down through eight generations.

Many of the tunes on the recording, Marie learned from her father, a fiddling blacksmith, hence the CD title: The Anvil.

Marie will launch the CD locally in Cryan’s Bar, Carrick on Thursday, September 6 at 8.30pm.
