'At it again?' - Irish film fans baffled as Cillian Murphy included in UK's Sexiest Man list

Irish film fans have been left baffled as Cillian Murphy was named on a list of the UK's sexiest men. 

The Irish actor - who recently won an Oscar for his performance in Oppenheimer - was reportedly voted fifth on the list, with the likes of Jeremy Clarkson beating him to the top spot. 

Two thousand female users of a dating site for married people participated in the annual poll, which deemed Clarkson - known for Top Gear and Clarkson's Farm - as the UK's sexiest man. 

The participants also named Tom Holland in second place, followed by the Prince of Wales, Gareth Southgate, and Murphy in joint-fifth alongside Idris Elba and Dermot O'Leary. 

Social media users immediately pointed out Irishman Murphy should not have been included on the list at all. 

One X user among hundreds commented, "When are you lot gonna get it through your empty heads that Cillian Murphy is not British?" 

Another commented, "Despite the ridiculousness of this, Cillian Murphy is Irish. Ireland is not part of the UK." 

Another social media user commented, "You steal Cillian Murphy only to have him lose to Clarkson? Bin." 

A further X comment reads, "At it again? Once more for the slow of wit Cillian Murphy is Irish."
