A short time after gardaí received a call about an incident of attempted theft at a local retailer, they intercepted a van in Dromod. The four people travelling in the van were arrested and a large amount of stolen property was recovered.
"It's believed that this organised retail crime gang set off from Dublin and that the recovered property had been stolen earlier that day from various retail outlets in Cavan town," a garda spokesperson said.
The two males and two females ranging in age from 23 to 33 years were interviewed by Gardaí in Carrick on Shannon, Ballymote and Sligo Garda Stations.
