Brady Insurance is hosting a coffee morning at their Carrick-on-Shannon office on Friday, December 6 in aid of Domestic Violence Advocacy Service (DVAS).

DVAS provides crucial support to women and girls experiencing abuse in Leitrim, Sligo and Cavan.

These three counties alongside Roscommon, Longford, Offaly, Carlow, Monaghan and Laois currently do not have a domestic violence refuge centre.

Refuges are designed to provide short-term accommodation for women and children facing domestic violence.

As per international guidelines, there should be one refuge centre for every 10,000 women and girls aged over 15, meaning Ireland should have 675 spaces.

However, there are just 144 spaces available nationwide.

This highlights the critical role of DVAS, providing essential services such as outreach, court accompaniment, and one-to-one support, all free of charge.

Brady Insurance’s coffee morning in aid of DVAS will take place from 9am until 12pm.

All are welcome to come along and support.

Brady Insurance is encouraging people to bring in personal care items, or donation bags which will be passed on to DVAS.

Accepted items include: Shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, tooth brushes, mouthwash, hairbrush, soap, body wash, deodorant, wash cloths, Q tips, disposable razors, shaving cream, sanitary pads, tampons, nappies, baby wipes, baby shampoo, sudocrem and hair ties.

You can also make a financial contribution to DVAS here: https://www.idonate.ie/advanced-donation-form/dvas
