Uisce Éireann has confirmed the return of the water supply
Water supply is returning to customers supplied by Carrick-on-Shannon Water Treatment Plant, Uisce Éireann has confirmed.
However, it may take several hours before the return of a normal water supply for many houses in south Leitrim.
Uisce Éireann working with the ESB has restored power at the water treatment plant and a normal water supply will return to customers over the next number of hours.
In the meantime, an alternative water supply has been arranged and is in place at the following locations: Drumshambo Mart, Fenagh National School and in Mohill (opposite the Fire Station).
Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure. Further locations will be made available and customers and we will advise on further locations on our Supply & Services update page on our website Reference No. LEI00086275.
Uisce Éireann’s Kevin Love thanked customers for their support as crews worked to restore a normal supply.
“The issues have been resolved but customers can expect to be without a normal water supply for a number of hours tonight while the network recharges. We thank all our customers for their patience while we worked to return a supply to all following Storm Darragh,” he said.
Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
