Over 27,000 raised by Dowra family for The Gavin Glynn Foundation

The McGovern family in Dowra have raised over €27,000 for The Gary Glynn Foundation, a charity helping support their daughter's overseas cancer treatment.

Five-year-old Rachel is receiving treatment for Retinoblastoma Cancer in her eye at Birmingham Women and Children's Hospital. The Gavin Glynn Foundation has provided the McGovern family with “invaluable support.” The foundation helps with organising flights and accommodation and helps finance the medical trips.

Geraldine McGovern told the Leitrim Observer that the Gavin Glynn Foundation has helped take the stress out of necessary the trips for treatments and allow them to keep a normal family life at home. 

Geraldine said their family and the amazing community around them wish to thank the Gavin Glynn Foundation for all their help and want to provide fundraise money  to “help the next family” who will need to leave Ireland for medical treatment.
