There is absolutely nothing wrong with Wham's hit, Last Christmas.
December 6, 3pm
(Just 19 days to C Day)
Striped candy canes! It's only 19 days to Christmas and I still have so much to do and so many places I want to visit here in Co Leitrim!
There is just one small, ahem, problem. No mode of transport here appears to be elf-sized. While I am a fully qualified sleigh operator at home, here I can't even open the door on a car....and even if I could, it's a long way to the pedals when you are only 12 inches tall! But even worse, my sleigh licence won't transfer and I'm now, for the first time in 410 years, unlicensed. So I'll have to book my driver theory test and get studying - I wonder what Irish drivers do when when they try to land their cars on the roof of a house so they can drop down the chimney? Do reindeers have right of way here?
Of course if I pass I still have to figure out how to drive a car. If there are any driving instructors out there with specially elf-adapted vehicles, let me know at firstname.lastname@example.org.
So until I am a road-legal elf I am relying on the Leitrim Observer staff to drive me everywhere - they are very obliging, but sadly, nobody seems to share my undying love for Wham's song 'Last Christmas'. Somebody, who shall remain nameless, threatened to torch my CD single. They have definitely made the 'naughty list' I can tell you - I used my red elf pen too - that's reserved for only the boldest of people!
A big congratulations to AnnMarie Bryant who correctly guessed where I was in the Where's Eddie competition on facebook over the weekend. AnnMarie has won a voucher for Wholesale Furniture, Carrick-on-Shannon. I am sure she will find something very special to buy - I managed to get everything for my new elf-flat there last week (although was sad that I couldn't buy the three seater leather couch as I thought I looked very fetching reclining on it, but apparently there was no way to get that through a door 15 inches high).
The good news is that I will be running loads of competition in the coming days with children's books, beauty gift sets, hampers and more vouchers to give away. So don't forget to keep an eye on our Christmas Craic section - find it here.
Keep an eye out tomorrow for the next Where's Eddie compeition too!
And make sure you put up your Christmas tree this week. If you think your house is the most festive looking in Leitrim - send in your pictures and let us decide!
