Tributes are being paid to Leitrim woman Teresa O’Neill following her passing on November 21.

Teresa, of Gortletteragh, Mohill, passed away peacefully at Arus Carolan Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family, after bravely enduring an illness. She has been remembered as “a beautiful soul both inside and outside.”

She is predeceased by her parents, Francis and Bea; her brother, Francie Jnr.; and her sisters, Olivia and, recently, Josephine.

Teresa will be deeply missed by her sisters, Geraldine (Mulligan), Lorraine (Dorrigan), and Evelyn (O’Neill); her sister-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephew; uncle; aunts; cousins; extended family; and friends.

Condolences on RIP.ie have highlighted her warmth and dedication, particularly during her time as a midwife. One tribute read: “I first met her briefly in Hillington hospital many years ago before we met again at Mullingar, a very witty and caring midwife, couldn't do enough for the Mams and babes.”

Another reflected, “Although I hadn't seen Teresa in many years, memories of a lovely, quiet, very intelligent young classmate came flooding back. Sad to have learned that Teresa had to carry a heavy cross in later life but please God will now be reunited with her parents and siblings in heaven.”

The Mass of the Resurrection for Teresa took place on Monday, November 24, at St Patrick’s Church, Mohill, followed by burial in Gortletteragh cemetery.

“I cannot believe that we met over 40 years ago when we both started our nurse training. We have been in each other's lives ever since. I had the pleasure of coming to see you in Ireland and I met your wonderful family,” said another condolence.
