Tributes are being paid following the loss of a Leitrim man remembered as being “full of life and fun.”
Nigel Hannon of Dromahair/Coolaney passed away suddenly but peacefully at Sligo University Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, March 8.
Nigel was the beloved husband of Tola and the adored father of Hollie. He will be deeply missed by his parents, John and Noeleen; sisters Aisling, Sandra and Rachel; brother Mark; his nieces and nephews, Daryl, Chloe, Millie, Charlie and Freya; as well as his aunts and uncles, Tola's family (Leszek, Joanna, Amy, Ewa), and his many loving friends.
Condolences have been shared on RIP.ie following Nigel’s untimely death. “Nigel was an absolute gentleman whose kindness and great sense of humour will be fondly remembered by all who knew him,” one condolence read.

“We remember him with great fondness. He was a gentleman in every way and his friendly and obliging manner will always be remembered by us,” said another. “Nigel was a good man and friend, I remember our childhood well,” wrote another.
Nigel’s funeral mass took place on Thursday, March 12 in Drumlease Church of Ireland, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Another condolence said, “He was incredibly kind and brought such a positive energy to everyone around him. It’s clear he is a truly special person and will be greatly missed.”
“I have lovely memories of playing basketball with Nigel in Drumlease National School. He will be remembered with great warmth,” another person remembered. “A true gentleman, with a great sense of humour and a heart of gold. I have great memories of him growing up in Dromahair,” said another.
