Majority of South Leitrim sees water resorted after supply interruption

A disruption at a water treatment plant has led to supply issues affecting Drumshanbo, Ballinamore, Keshcarrigan, Fenagh, Kilyvehy, Cloone, Gortletteragh, and surrounding areas in South Leitrim.

An alternative water supply was provided at The Food Hub and Mulveys Hardware in Drumshanbo, The Square in Ballinamore, and McNamee's Garage in Kilyvehy, available from 2pm on 14 July until 2pm on 15 July.

Repair works are now complete, and water supply is expected to begin returning to all affected properties.

To help maintain daytime water availability, nighttime restrictions will be in effect from 11pm to 7am each day for the next few days.

“There has been a noticeable increase in water demand across the South Leitrim areas in recent weeks which has put pressure on our supply. This coupled with a number of leaks and a mechanical issue at the plant on Sunday has put further pressure on our reservoir levels,” said Paul Kelleher of Uisce Éireann.
