Leitrim's Enda Moreton and Ailbhe Clancy in action last weekend for the hurling and ladies football teams
Leitrim's Senior men might have missed out on their date in Croke Park next weekend but both the county's hurlers and ladies football teams are heading to Dublin after their respective League Finals were fixed for the capital.
Leitrim hurlers take on Cavan in the Allianz NHL Division 3B Final next Saturday, April 1, at 3pm at the GAA National Centre of Excellence at the Sports Ireland Campus in Abbotstown as they seek to win the League title.
Cavan, who also see their Senior men's football team in action in the Allianz NFL Division 3 Final later on Saturday evening in Croke Park, defeated Leitrim in the group stage, winning 0-21 to 2-11 in Kingspan Breffni Park.
Leitrim Ladies also have a trip to Dublin but face a longer wait for their final after they overcame Fermanagh in an extra-time thriller in Bawnboy last Sunday to book their place in the Lidl LGFA Division 4 Final against Antrim.
That game is fixed for Parnell Park in Dublin on Sunday April 16, as the first game in a double header that also features the Division 3 Final between Clare and Kildare.
In between both games, Andy Moran's team will be heading across the Atlantic to take on New York in the opening round of the Connacht Senior Championship with hundreds of Leitrim fans expected to travel to Gaelic Park in the Bronx for the highly anticipated encounter.
But the first Leitrim team in provincial championship action will actually be the County U20 side who take on Galway next Tuesday in Tuam in the Eirgrid Connacht U20 Championship Semi-Final (6.30 pm throw-in).
In other sports news, Carrick AC's Michelle Lannon became a world medalist when she finished third in the W50 3,000m race at the World Masters Indoors in Poland but there was disappointment for Carrick RFC when they lost their promotion playoff against Loughrea.
Mohill Mavericks had mixed emotions with the Ladies team getting the better of Sligo All Stars to claim the Lonleitros Top 4 trophy in the Mohill Topline Community Hub & Complex last Sunday, prompting huge celebrations. Unfortunately, their men's team suffered heartbreak as they lost out to a late buzzer beater in the Plate Final with Castlerea Cavaliers winning by a single point on a 56-55 scoreline.
