Mohill's reign as Masonite ACL Division 1 champions appears to be coming to an end after the reigning kingpins suffered a third one point defeat last Saturday evening, this time at the hands of Aughawillan, to leave them second from bottom of the Division 1 table.
With Championship winners and Division 1 finalists St Mary's Kiltoghert maintaining an unbeaten record at the top of the table thanks to a 0-13 to 0-7 victory over Leitrim Gaels on Saturday, Mohill now lie six points behind the Carrick men after four rounds of the League and only winless Aughnasheelin are below them in the table.
After one point losses at the hands of St Mary's and Leitrim Gaels, Mohill looked well on the road to victory when a first half goal from Ryan Bohan and another from Tadhg Mulligan, set up by sub Keith Beirne, saw them lead 2-7 to 0-9 approaching the final stretch. However, a power packed finish from the visitors saw them score 1-2 without reply to claim the victory.
Mohill now face a surging Fenagh St Caillins side who accounted for their Ballinamore Sean O'Heslins neighbours with a 3-16 to 2-7 victory in Corlough on Sunday. With Ryan O'Rourke scoring 12 points, six from frees, Fenagh turned on the style in the second half as they went from a 1-9 to 2-5 halftime lead to a comprehensive 12 point victory.
St Mary's Kiltoghert had six points to spare over fellow parishioners Leitrim Gaels on Saturday evening at Leitrim Gaels Community field, their ability to finish both halves strongly the difference between the sides as the County champions showcased their strength in depth by lining out without Paul Keaney, Sean Reynolds, Conor Farrell and Cian Singleton while Adam Reynolds came on as a sub.
With Glencar Manorhamilton scoring a 1-13 to 0-11 victory over Aughnasheelin, there is quite a pile up of teams mid table - St Mary's lead the way with eight points, Aughawillan are two behind while, thanks to scoring difference, Fenagh St Caillins are ahead of Ballinamore Sean O'Heslins, Glencar Manorhamilton and Leitrim Gaels - all of whom are on four points. Mohill are in the relegation spots at the moment along with Aughnasheelin.
Next weekend's games sees Mohill travel to Fenagh, St Mary's on the road to Glencar Manorhamilton while Leitrim Gaels host Aughnasheelin.
In Division 2, Allen Gaels take outright leadership of the table after Ballinaglera suffered a surprise 2-9 to 0-9 loss to bottom of the table Melvin Gaels. The Drumshanbo men had six points to spare in their derby clash with Kiltubrid, winning 2-9 to 0-9, leaving them on seven points, two points clear of Ballinaglera, Annaduff and Carrigallen.
Annaduff made the long trip to Dromahair a worthwhile one as they prevailed 1-14 to 1-8 while Carrigallen will enjoy the local bragging rights as they got the better of Aughavas 0-12 to 1-6. Those results leaves Aughavas, Dromahair and Melvin Gaels all on two points at the bottom of Division 2, separated only by scoring difference. Kiltubrid are locked mid-table with four points but not out of contention for a League Final spot but not out of danger in the relegation battle either.
In Division 3, Glenfarne Kiltyclogher picked up their first point of the season when they drew 0-13 to 1-10 with leaders Gortletteragh. The point leaves Gortletteragh three points clear of Drumkeerin who had a strong 2-13 to 0-12 victory over Bornacoola but the north Leitrim men have a game in hand.
Cloone also picked up a second win of the campaign when they defeated Eslin 2-14 to 1-15 to stay in the hunt for a final place.
