Big wins in the Connacht Gold Senior Championship and draws in the Smith Monumentals Intermediate grade were the order of the day with perhaps the most important result being Mohill's three point win over Glencar Manorhamilton in Boggaun that leaves Aughawillan on the brink.

Both champions St Mary's Kiltoghert and league champions Fenagh St Caillins recorded expected easy wins over Aughnasheelin and Gortletteragh respectively, the Carrick men winning 3-12 to 0-3 at Pairc Naomh Mhuire and Fenagh doing the same in Pairc Sean O'Laodain, their 3-21 to 1-9 victory a real statement of intent.

St Mary's had first half goals from Sam Barnes and Oisin Bohan as they led 2-5 to 0-1 at the break and a further three pointer from David O'Connell, allied with the return of Paul Keaney ensured a very comfortable passage into the playoff for the defending champions.

Gortletteragh mounted stern earlier resistance as a pair of fisted goals from Conor Dwyer (Fenagh) and Keoghan McGovern (Gortletteragh) had only two points between the teams midway through the first half. However, a fine Riordan O'Rourke goal on 18 minutes saw the League champions take control as they blew Gortletteragh away, leading 2-10 to 1-4 at the break.

Riordan O'Rourke would grab a second goal as Fenagh scored their first win while talisman Ryan O'Rourke, who hit seven points on the evening, got valuable game time as Fenagh moved onto three points in the table.

In Boggaun, Mohill overcame a severe test from the home side to emerge victorious with a 2-13 to 1-13 victory. Glencar Manorhamilton looked to be taking early control as a Donnacha Devaney goal eight minutes in left them three points up and playing with the wind.

However, a goal apiece from Ronan Kennedy and Keith Beirne in the space of three minutes midway through the half saw the 2020 champions regain the initiative as they led 2-6 to 1-8 at the break. Mohill would stretch that lead to five points early in the second half but Glencar Manorhamilton fought back, reducing the lead to two points with ten minutes left but the visitors held on for the victory.

Also on Friday evening, Leitrim Gaels picked up their second win when they had a 1-10 to 0-7 away to a St Patrick's Dromahair team who were again left ruing the inability to convert some good goal chances.

In the Smith Monumentals Intermediate Championship, Carrigallen recovered from their loss to Drumkeerin by handing Bornacoola a heavy 3-9 to 0-7 defeat in Dromod, the only Intermediate game on Saturday to produce a winner with three draws elsewhere in the grade.

Division 2 champions Allen Gaels had to settle for a draw against Division 3 champions Drumkeerin in Drumkeerin on a 0-12 to 1-9 scoreline while Aughavas were unable to build on their first round win over Drumreilly at home on Saturday when Ballinaglera drew 1-9 to 0-12 with them.

Melvin Gaels picked up a draw at home when Kiltubrid held them to a 0-16 to 2-10 draw, results that leaves Annaduff, who beat Drumreilly 4-10 to 1-6 at home on Friday evening, top of the table on four points but with four teams on three points right behind them.

The draw for the final round of the Connacht Gold SFC and third round of the Smith Monumentals IFC will be made on Sunday afternoon. Leitrim GAA have produced an informative graphic which shows which teams can be drawn to face each other in the final round of the Senior grade, match-ups that might determine who makes it through to the playoffs.
