Launch of Youthreach Leitrim Learner Art Exhibition

Launch of Youthreach Leitrim Learner Art Exhibition

An exhibition of artwork by 15 students in Youthreach Leitrim opened in The Dock, Carrick-on-Shannon on Friday, February 3.

The exhibition showcases digital and photographic works created by the students as part of the Envision project.

Each artist directed the theme and technique to suit their individual vision. Some of the techniques used include digital drawing, long exposure, blended exposure, and digital/physical assemblage.

Welcoming the opportunity to host this exhibition, Cathriona Glancy O’Shea, Youthreach Leitrim Co-ordinator says;

“A massive amount of time and effort has gone into preparing for this showcase over the last few months and weeks. It’s been such a valuable experience for the students – it’s their first real showcase as emerging professional artists – and as people will see when they visit the exhibition, there is real talent on display.”

Peter Egan, Director of Further Education and Training, MSLETB said:

“We are delighted that learners from Youthreach Leitrim can showcase their work through this dynamic and imaginative exhibition. The work showcases their individual areas of interest and their voices. We hope this is the first of many future projects that will display the talents, voices, and abilities of our young people.”

Congratulations to Youthreach Leitrim students and to their art teacher David Smith.

The exhibition will run from February 3 until March 31 at The Dock, Carrick-on-Shannon.

This project has been kindly supported by the Local Creative Youth Partnership and The Dock Arts Centre.

Youthreach is a Department of Education and Skills (DES) programme of education, training and work experience aimed at supporting early school leavers or those who seek a 2nd chance at education from ages 15 to 21.
