Boys Basketball
Hard luck to our 2nd Year Boys basketball team who were narrowly defeated in the Regional Final in Castlebar last Wednesday. The boys played against St Tiernan’s, Crossmolina. The boys fought the brave fight but were just pipped to the post on a score line of 24 20. Hard luck to Mr Mallon and the boys. Well done to Ultan McNulty, who won Most Valuable Player.

Ultan McNulty won Most Valuable Player.

Girls Football
Our Under 14 girls had a game against Drumshanbo Vocational School last Thursday. The game was played in appalling weather conditions on the day in MCC. At the end of the game the referee called a draw, 6 9 to both teams.

Seachtain Na Gaeilge
There was a lot of interesting and exciting events happening around school these past two weeks to mark Seachtaine Na Gaeilge. Various year groups took part in Tráth na gCeist. Our Fifth years took part in a dancing class (ag damhsa an Dreoilín) with Ms Canning. Our First Years took part in a Tóraíocht taisce (treasure hunt) with Ms Reidy and Ms Canning.
A number of students were crowned Gaeilgeoir na Seachtaine across their various Irish classes by their Irish teachers.

Thank you
Thank you to Ms Kellegher for treating us to a beautiful cake in advance of the St Patrick's Day break. Ms Kellegher was also marking the occasion of Ms Dhonnchu's return to school after illness. Welcome back to Ms Ni Dhonnchu, you were missed.

Well done
Well done to Lorraine McNabola, Fifth Year, who together with her friends in the North Longford Senior Branch of the Irish Girl Guides, competed in the First Lego League Challenge and Ireland Regional Final recently in DCU. The girls won first place overall and now proceed to the National UK and Ireland finals on Saturday, March 25th.
The topic for the project was Superpowered. The girls had to design, build and code a robot to move around a table of energy themed challenges and present their project to a panel of judges in order to come out on top. Best of luck to Lorraine and her friends in the next round.
