The opening of the Ukrainian art exhibition will take place in The Dock tomorrow, Wednesday April 12 at 1pm.
Art tutor, Kasia Lubienska (Poland) facilitated art workshops from September 2022 to December 2023 in the Leitrim Volunteer Centre.

This group worked through various art forms, from painting, clay, photography, felting to collaborative pieces.
The title of the exhibition is ‘Privit Svit, the Ukrainian words for Hi World.’

The exhibition is an invitation from the Ukrainian artists to the people of Leitrim to celebrate the similarities and differences between the two cultures.

The inspiration behind the artwork was the beauty of the landscape of Ireland and the warmth of the Irish people.
The participants also engaged in local heritage practices and created needle felted pictures under the guidance of Sandra Coote from Crafts of Ireland.

Daria Mazina led a number of workshops in Petrykivka, traditional Ukrainian ornament painting.
The art classes were organized as a part of Art therapy and Integration project by Leitrim Volunteer Centre and in partnership with The Dock.

The exhibition is curated by Daria Mazina, Leitrim Volunteer Centre, and Laura Mahon, The Dock.
Artists: Oksana Borovik, Irina Gribok, Elena Sidorenko, Helen Hundareva, Natalia Heynovych, Viktoria Stanieva, Nadiia Tsuprikova, Olga Romanova, Olena Kozachenko, Daria Mazina and Kasia Lubienska.

“With this exhibition we say hello to the world, see and feel us! And we share our vision of Ireland and our own traditions as well. Let's increase the beauty and add a new artistic point of view.”

The exhibition opens at 1pm on April 12 in The Jury Room Cafe and continues until early May 2023.
