Litter picks
Our Sunday morning litter picks continue at 10am, meeting at the Tourist Office. Pickers, bags, gloves and high vises are provided, we pick for an hour or so around the town and then have a coffee/tea afterwards. It is a good way to meet people especially if you are new to the area.

Work continues
Tidy Towns volunteers are going to be out (weather permitting) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings thi2s week from 7 pm, meeting at The Tourist Office. Many hands make light work and we have a lot of work to do in the parks, streets, approach roads and every nook and cranny in between! (Check Facebook for updates). Last week saw us weeding and planting in the Linear Park.

Best Kept Small Town
As you may know we have been nominated by the Department of Community Development to participate in the competition for ‘Ireland's Best Kept Small Town.’ We are appealing to business owners to do their part to sweep around their premises and keep the town looking it's best. Judging takes place in May and then 'SuperValu Tidy Towns Competition' continues from the start of June. As we are quite high in the markings, we have another judging in August, so we need to make a concerted effort in the next while.

Art with Noreen
The 'Art with Noreen' classes continue on Friday mornings. A lovely programme.

Biodiversity Garden
The Biodiversity Garden is coming along, with over 500 trees planted already. We sowed oats as part of 'The Sowing the Seed Project' and look forward to making straw hats and joining the Carrick Mummers again later in the year.

Church gate collection
Please support our Church Gate collection in The Patrician Hall, Cortober on Sunday, May 14 at 12pm.

Biodiversity talk
There is a talk to get to know our local biodiversity, on Sunday afternoon, May 14, meeting at the picnic benches in Linear Park at 2pm. This promises to be very informative given by Flynn and Furney who are experts in this area.

Tidy Towns entry submitted
By this stage, after burning an energy efficient candle at both ends for a few evenings our 2023 entry for the SuperValu Tidy Towns Competition has been submitted, thank you to everyone who contributed, especially Janet.

Join in
If you or anyone around Carrick-on-Shannon would like to join us please let us know, or just come along any Sunday morning or Tuesday evening. We have a busy summer lined up and don't worry it won't be all work, we have fun projects planned as well!
