Deadline approaches for Sligo/Leitrim Garda Youth Awards 2023

The deadline for nominations for the Sligo/Leitrim Garda Youth Awards 2023 is fast approaching.

An Garda Síochána in Sligo/Leitrim Division launched the Sligo/Leitrim Garda Youth Awards 2023, in association with Sligo Credit Union and Leitrim Credit Unions. These annual awards which are now in their 13th year aim to celebrate the outstanding young people between the ages of 13 and 21 years in our communities.

Sligo/Leitrim Gardaí recognise the work and achievements by so many young people throughout Counties Sligo and Leitrim who make their communities a better place to live in.

Any member of the public may nominate a young person between the ages of 13 and 21 whom they feel deserves an award and nominations may also be submitted by family members or relatives.

Nominations are accepted for Individual (Making a positive contribution to their community, making it a better place to live), Group (Group of two or more, making a positive contribution to their community, making it a better place to live), Special Achievement (Overcome difficult circumstances, defied all the odds and whose commitment deserves recognition) and Community Safety (Through a crime prevention or safety initiative/innovation, have made their community a safer place to live) categories.

This year also includes an award for the Under 13 age group. Awards are given in the following categories: Individual Award, Group Award and Special Achievement Award.

Nomination forms are available at all Garda Stations throughout Sligo/Leitrim and nomination forms will also be distributed by the Community Gardaí in each local Garda District. Hard copies of the form are available at Sligo Credit Union offices and Leitrim Credit Union offices. Electronic versions of the nomination form are available on request from sligo.community@garda.ie and leitrim.community@garda.ie

The closing date for nominations is Friday, June 30 2023.
