Volunteering is a valued part of the culture at Intel. Throughout the company’s 50-plus year history volunteering has been encouraged and facilitated to make it as meaningful and impactful as possible.

Every year Intel Ireland employees volunteer thousands of hours in the communities where they live and work.

Matching grants, how it works: 15 years ago Intel began a Matching Grant programme.

Every year, for every hour that an Intel employee volunteers at an approved organisation, there’s a ‘match’, or grant, of $10 paid by the Intel Foundation to the organisation where they give their time.

What’s the result and how does it help: Intel Ireland has revealed the results of its 2022 Matching Grant program which sees 314 community organisations and schools from across Ireland receiving grants which total €1,341,960.

In 2022 Intel employees volunteered just over 134,196 hours that were eligible to be matched through this initiative resulting in a payout of €1,341,960 for the 314 recipient organisations who are spread across 24 different counties.

The 314 organisations which were part of the Matching Grant initiative include charities such as Irish Red Cross, the Samaritans and Irish Dogs for the Disabled, a variety of sporting clubs ranging from GAA to handball, and various other organisations such as animal sanctuaries and scouting groups.

Three organisations from the Leitrim area were part of the 2022 Matching Grant Scheme, receiving funding in the total amount of €19,495.

The Leitrim organisations are:
Carrick Town AFC
Kiltubrid GAA Club
St Mary's GAA

This is the fourth consecutive year that Intel Ireland will be donating over €1 million to community organisations and since Intel first implemented the current grant scheme, more than €10.7 million has been donated to charities, schools, sports clubs, social initiatives, and community schemes across Ireland.

Director of Public Affairs at Intel Ireland, Sarah Sexton, spoke proudly of the achievements.

“Charities, sports clubs, emergency services, education and social groups are the backbone of our communities. Intel is very proud to celebrate, and to support, the valuable time given to these organisations by our employees through the Matching Grant programme.

“I’m sure that the grants, coupled with the substantial impact of our employees’ time, will make a lasting impact to organisations across the country.”
