Rent €800 in Leitrim compared to €2000 in Dublin

Rent costs are lowest in Leitrim according to report.

Leitrim has lowest rent in country, says report

Leitrim has the lowest average rent in the country, so says a new report from the Residential Tenancies Board.

Average monthly rents in Leitrim stood at €800 per month that's compared to €2,063 per month in Dublin.

Yvonne Noone of Gallagher Auctioneers told the Leitrim Observer that in comparison to spiralling rent costs in the capital, everywhere else is low. “In comparsion to Dublin and Galway, everywhere is low; Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Mullingar, Longford; they would all be low. It's all relevant to areas and infrastructures and jobs and all of that.”

She said that for those hoping to rent, there is “very little out there at the moment; anything that comes in, goes quite quickly so to say that Leitrim has the lowest rent in the country, I would debate that.”

The findings of the report are based on a three bedroom house in new tenancies in the last three months of 2022.

In Longford the average rent in quarter four of last year was €965 with Roscommon recording average rent of around €880.

Ms Noone also commented on the property market saying that houses are currently selling well. “The sales market is very very busy. Houses are achieving great prices.”
