Less than 1 per cent of national emissions come from Leitrim
Leitrim accounts for just 1 per cent of all of Ireland's greenhouse gas emissions, it was revealed at a local meeting during which Marie Mulligan, Senior Executive Engineer in the Environment Department, spoke about Leitrim's Climate Action Plan.
The plan ties in with the national strategy which aims to achieve a 51% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and to achieve climate neutrality by no later than the end of 2050.
The plan is set to be adopted by members next February and is currently at public consultation stage.
