LIS projects approved
Members in the Ballinamore Municipal District approved a number of Local Improvement Scheme (LIS) applications where the cost was in excess of the €65,000 limit.
Current policy for LIS includes that gross expenditure is to be limited to €65000 on any one scheme except with the prior approval of the relevant Municipal District.
Schemes approved were an LIS roadway at Drumcoora, Drumshanbo (€74,910), a roadway at Liscuffea, Ballinamore (€99,880), a roadway at Annaughbrennan, Cloone (€106,123), a project at Drumcatton, Foxfield (€967,419) and a project at Greagnafarna, Dowra (€68,688).
Cllr Brendan Barry said that the reason that so many LIS projects are over the limit is due to “the new points-based system – the more people who are living on a lane, the more points they get.”
Cathaoirleach Cllr Paddy O'Rourke added that “it's so long since many of these lanes were done – some of them maybe 25 years or more – the extent of the repair and drainage works are very substantial.”
