Joyous reunion of Moyne Community School Class of 1998 - Celebrating 25 years of memories and friendships

The spirit of camaraderie and cherished memories reverberated through the Ballrooms and Bars of Breffni Arms Hotel, Arva as the class of 1998 gathered for a heartwarming reunion.
The event, brought together 69 former classmates who embarked on a journey down memory lane, reminiscing about their shared experiences over the past 25 years.
Founded in 1973, Moyne Community School holds a special place in the hearts of its alumni. Born from the fusion of the Latin School in Moyne and Ballinamuck Vocational School, the institution became one of the country's pioneering community schools.
With its inception, the legacy of the two predecessor schools found a new home, and the torch of their traditions was proudly carried forward by Moyne Community School.
The reunion festivities commenced on a heartfelt note with past pupils attending a special mass at the Sacred Heart Church in Arva.
The mass, presided over by Fr. Declan Shannon, former chaplain at Moyne Community College, and assisted by Fr. Oliver O'Reilly, served as a poignant remembrance for deceased classmates Sean Mulligan from Crott, Moyne; Martin McKiernan from Aughagreagh, Colmcille; Bernice Treacy (nee Martin) from Corrinagh, Moyne; and Enda Walsh from Cordownan, Arva.
The evening overflowed with nostalgia and the joy of rekindled friendships. The reunion offered the perfect occasion to catch up on the diverse paths each individual has taken since their school days.
A sense of warmth and camaraderie, which has always been a hallmark of Moyne Community School, pervaded the gathering.
A highlight of the event was the presence of former teaching staff who played a pivotal role in shaping the education and lives of the class of 1998. Among them were Liam Faughnan, the Principal of Moyne Community School, as well as teachers Sean Barry and Pat Redahan, accompanied by school secretary Bridie Mulligan. Their dedication and impact were warmly acknowledged by the reunited graduates.
The reunion of the Moyne Community School class of 1998 not only celebrated the passing of time but also the enduring bonds that were forged within its walls.
The event was a testament to the school's legacy of fostering friendships, mutual respect, and a sense of community that continues to thrive.
