The Dock theatre presents the folk star Emer Dunner on September 29 as part of her Autumn Tour with her musicians to hit the stage with ‘Folk Threads’ hits.
Fresh from her recent appearance on ‘The Saturday Connection’ on Shannonside FM, where Emer duetted with Charlie McGettigan on his beautiful composition ‘Feet of a Dancer’, she is bringing a show that ties the threads of Irish, Scottish and American folk music together with timeless and meaningful songs such as ‘Sweet Sixteen’ and ‘Grace’ to lively numbers and contemporary surprises.
Emer is a folk singer from Laois, with her roots firmly linked to Leitrim. Emer’s late mum, Bridie Dunne (Baxter), was from Drumreilly, Ballinamore and her Grandparents, Eugene Baxter later moved to Mohill.
She has been making a name for herself in Ireland over the past couple of years since the release of her debut album, ‘Hourglass’ produced by Bill Shanley, and in fact, she stopped off in the ‘The Corn Mill’ in Carrigallen to perform on her ‘Hourglass’ tour in April 2022.
Irish Music Magazine has deemed Emer as 'A definite Rising Star', and about her first performance at The Dock, she says, "I'm very excited to perform my first show in the beautiful Dock Theatre and to reach out to the people of Carrick on Shannon.
"This is a beautiful, intimate tiered theatre setting, where we hope the people of Carrick and surrounding towns will come out to support live shows and enjoy the songs and music, to listen and perhaps sing along with us."
'22 saw Emer's return to the stage with the 'Hourglass' tour, and '23 so far saw Emer invited on tour with folk legends the Fureys, which helped her to reach venues of dreams in the Gleneagle and Vicar Street alongside her shows and performances.
Emer's highlight for the summer was performing at Forest Fest, mixing with many great acts, including Sharon Shannon, Paul Brady, Stockton's Wing and more. Emer's voice has already featured on the national and regional airwaves over the past few years with Ronan Collins and RTE 1's 'Rising Time' alongside BBC Ulster and more coming on board.
Emer has performed for Japanese and American Ambassadors, featured on the RTE Today show with Daithi and Maura and has been reviewed with great praise by Irish Music Magazine, Hot Press, Irish Country Living, RTE 'Behind the Music' and more.
She also toured Europe and Japan as a singer and champion dancer with an Irish Song and Dance troop.
This Trio have a wealth of experience as performers and musicians. Eamonn Moran can turn his hand to jazz, blues, acoustic rock, folk and many various styles on guitar and has previously worked with Emer on her Irish tours and headline gigs in Germany and Amsterdam.
John Davidson on fiddle has performed all over the states and worked as a resident musician in Nashville before returning to Ireland, where he is now based as a professional musician, composer and touring artist.
Don't miss a great night and a chance to enjoy this fantastic voice singing timeless and sing along with the artists on stage on Friday, September 29.
