Ballinamore Area Community Clg has formed a strong working relationship with the International Fund for Ireland.
Máirín Martin explains, “The Better Together – Níos Fearr Le Chéile Peace Project, was formed in 2019 when we received our first tranche of funding. Further funding allowed us to recommence in February 2022 and this Peace Impact Programme runs until the end of January 2024.
“We have submitted a further application for almost €200,000 and if successful, we will then be able to run until the end of January 2026.
“Peace Building on a cross border/cross community basis is at the core of what we do. A very successful Schools Project between Ballinamore Community School and Enniskillen Royal Grammar School was completed in 2022 and we are hoping to build further on this in the coming years.
“Another interesting element of the Peace Impact Programme is the upcoming Public Talks which will be run in Ballinamore and Enniskillen.
Public Talk: “Building Peace – Putting Yourself in each other’s Shoes” takes place on Thursday, 5th October, 7 to 9pm in The Island Theatre, Ballinamore
A unique cross border/cross community initiative, where a number of key individuals, Victim, State, Republican, Loyalist will talk about their views on the Troubles and subsequent Peace Process.
This is a free event and everybody is welcome to attend.
