Sligo parents celebrate as new €1.1m purpose-built childcare facility opens

The new Cre8ive Corner Creche in Farmhill Manor on the Strandhill Road in Sligo opened last Saturday.

Sligo families are today celebrating the much-anticipated opening of a new €1.1m purpose-built childcare facility over the weekend.

Bridgestock Childcare hosted an official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Cre8ive Corner Creche in Farmhill Manor on the Strandhill Road in Sligo last Saturday.

Licensed to cater for more than 110 children, the state-of-the-art creche has created 25 new jobs for Early Years Educators. It is the second Cre8ive Corner Creche in Sligo. The first has been located at Sea Road for the past 10 years.

Cre8ive Corner is owned and operated by Bridgestock Childcare, a family-owned company that has been providing award-winning care services in Ireland, the UK and Belgium for more than 20 years.

Aine Tuffy from Special Olympics Ireland performed the ribbon-cutting for the grand opening. Children’s cartoon characters from Paw Patrol, Mickey Mouse and Olaf from Frozen were also on-site providing colour and entertainment.

Bridgestock Childcare CEO Michael Gillen, who was at the official opening, said the company is in “growth mode”, adding that it has further expansions planned across the North West and Midlands to meet the huge demand for top-quality childcare services.

He said: “Bridgestock Childcare is delighted to officially open our second Cre8ive Corner Creche in Sligo. Our €1.1m investment in this facility further demonstrates our commitment to delivering first-class childcare to parents and children across the county.

“The shortage of creche places in the North West and Midlands puts undue strain on working families, restricts parents wishing to return to work, and inhibits the social development of children. The opening of this new state-of-the-art facility in Sligo will go some way to alleviating that stress while, at the same time, creating 25 new jobs for Early Years Educators.

“Bridgestock Childcare is moving now to increase our investment in childcare facilities into the future. This expansion of course means good things for parents and children, but also staff who will benefit from enhanced opportunities for career development.”

Bridgestock is a recent winner of the National Quality Management Systems overall award at the Excellence Ireland Quality Association’s (EIQA) Q Mark Awards ceremony. EIQA graded the company as having 100% employee engagement and has consistently ranked it in the top five per cent of all companies it audits across the country.

Cre8ive Corner Creche is also the only creche in Sligo to have been awarded the Shield Anti-Bullying Programme Certificate by the ISPCC.
