Poetry workshops takes place in Leitrim

Leitrim Local Studies Library is promoting two poetry workshops facilitated by author Mary Melvin Geoghegan on October 27 and November 2 in Ballinamore Library.

The workshop aims to develop creative engagement with the material history of the War of Independence and Civil War.

Artefacts, documents and photographs from the revolutionary period will be carefully selected from the Leitrim Local Studies Collection, and engagement with these creative prompts will inspire the participants, under the guidance of Mary Melvin Geoghegan, to write a poem.

Participants can also bring their own documents, letters or photographs to write about. These may be items preserved and handed down through the generations by family members.

The workshops will take place on October 27 and November 2 between 11am and 1pm. Places are limited, and participants need to register to attend, so please contact Mary Conefrey at 0719645567 or by email mconefrey@leitrimcoco.ie.
