New President of UCD has Leitrim roots
Cllr Finola Armstrong-McGuire asked that Leitrim County Council to send a note of congratulations to Professor Orla Feely who has recently been elected President of University College Dublin.
Her election is an honour and great achievement, said Cllr Armstrong-McGuire, in her motion, adding that Professor Feely, in her inaugural address as President, mentions with pride her Leitrim roots as her father hails from North Leitrim. "You can see her address to the college on her acceptance of the role and she remembers with pride, her visits to Leitrim as her father hails from Leitrim."
Cllr Armstrong-McGuire was backed by all her fellow members.
