Backstage Theatre Longford promises entertainment to local audiences with its new shows coming up.
Livin’Dred Theatre presents the World Premiere of ‘Super-Bogger’ by award-winning writer Clare Monnelly on November 26 at 8pm.
A one-man whirlwind performance featuring award-winning actor Aaron Monaghan, Super-Bogger is the hilarious origin story of Ireland's first superhero and a provocative deep dive into the fragmented mind of a modern, middle-aged parent.
Barry West has the perfect life. Wonderful wife. Happy kids. It is a beautiful home in a small country town where nothing ever happens. If only he knew why he is so utterly miserable.
But a chance encounter with a radioactive fox leaves him with a strange new super-power and sets him on track to disturb the small-town peace and reignite some old, small-town rivalries. Is it a fox? Is it a middle-aged man in lycra? No! It’s Super-Bogger!
Shane Kennedy – Never Better Album Launch returns to Backstage Theatre Longford to showcase some of the music that will be featured on his album as well as favourites from his 20-year love affair with music on November 29 at 8pm.
“This is my first live show as an original artist playing my own music that I’ve spent so long writing and putting together. I wouldn’t play them anywhere else than in The Backstage.
"The Backstage has supported me since I was a kid, and as always, I'll go out and try to give the people a lil' bit of magic! This gig will surprise people, it's new music, it's a new Kennedy," Shane said.
The "Never Better" album is set to be released in December 2023.
On November 30, Sean Moylan, Irish Revolutionary play is set to be on stage.
Sean Moylan, Irish Revolutionary, is one man’s account of key events during the Irish War of Independence, a man who sacrificed, suffered and risked his life for his country.
It is a tribute to him and to all who volunteered, many of whom paid the ultimate sacrifice, and to their families who bear it.
Written and performed by Michael Patric (An Cailín Ciúin, Smother, Frontier) and directed by Geoff Gould, the play will take the audience through dramatic events of the period: Ambush and guerrilla tactics, life on the run and the lasting effects of it all. In true Moylan fashion, it will be intense, funny, direct, and reflective.
