Last Wednesday, November 15, the ladies from Killenummery Women's Group, Dromahair, together with friends, were invited to visit Áras an Úachtaráin.
We were fortunate enough, while there, to have an audience with President Michael D Higgins who greeted each one of us individually, had great things to say about Leitrim, and had great memories of visiting our County.
Following the photo shoot, we had some lovely refreshments and were given a tour of the house through the entrance hall, into the State corridor, to the State Reception Room and the Council of State Room.
Then, onto the State Drawing Room and the State Dining Room. We were given the history of the house and former Presidents during the tour.
With it being such a lovely day, we were taken out to the garden where we rang the peace bell. What a beautiful day we had and beautiful memories made.
