More lighting and signage need at Tarmon church in interest of public safety

Cllr Mary Bohan

Cllr Mary Bohan asked that additional public lighting and signage be provided at Tarmon Church on the R280 in the interest of public safety.A report by the Roads office in Leitrim County Council said the location will be assessed for the need for public lighting improvements.

Cllr Bohan was speaking at the latest Manorhamilton municipal district.
She continued: "It's an extremely busy road and there have been one or two near misses there that I have been made aware of."
She added: "I know when people are coming along and see cars parked, they should slow but that's not the way it works unfortunately."
Eric Gilroy, engineer at Leitrim County Council, responded that the location "can be looked at in the context of the safety scheme to see if there is speeding there that justifies more safety measures."
