Gallagher delight as SNLNR Greenway receives €1.5 million investment

SNLNR Greenway poised to become a cornerstone of leisure and recreational activity in County Leitrim

Greenway through North Leitrim is "as important as the N16"

Local Green Party Representative for Manorhamilton and Chair of North West Greens, Bláithín Gallagher has expressed delight about the announcement  a significant portion of funding, totalling €1.5 million, has been allocated towards the SNLNR Greenway project.

This injection of funds comes as part of the larger €517 million investment allocated for Ireland's national roads and greenways in 2024 as detailed today by Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan T.D. and Minister of State Jack Chambers T.D., 

Bláithín Gallagher stated, "I am thrilled to see such substantial investment directed towards the SNLNR Greenway project. This funding not only underscores our commitment to enhancing infrastructure but also highlights the importance of initiatives that promote health, tourism, and community connectivity. 

"This investment is a testament to the dedication and hard work of all those involved in making the SNLNR Greenway a reality. It will undoubtedly bring about a host of benefits for our community, enhancing our quality of life, boosting tourism, and creating a legacy for future generations to enjoy.

Blaithin Gallagher continued "The SNLNR Greenway is poised to become a cornerstone of leisure and recreational activity in County Leitrim, offering locals and visitors alike a scenic route for walking, cycling, and enjoying the great outdoors. This significant investment will not only bolster the local economy but will also contribute to the well-being of those who live here by providing safe and accessible recreational spaces."

Additionally, the allocation of €400,000 towards other greenway projects elsewhere in the county underscores the government's dedication to expanding sustainable transportation options across the country. 

The €1.9 million for County Leitrim is part of a separate allocation of €72 million is being provided to local authorities to progress 70 Greenway projects across the country. This  funding will see more Greenways completed in 2024

Bláithín Gallagher concluded by saying "This investment represents not only a boon for County Leitrim but also a testament to the power of collaboration and vision in shaping a brighter future for all."
