Leitrim community mourns the passing of a man 'blessed with such musical talents'

The passing of Kevin Dowler, of Couraghy, Drumshanbo on March 12 has left a profound sense of sorrow in the hearts of those who knew him.

Fondly remembered for his eternal youth, sense of fun, and remarkable musical talents, Mr Dowler's legacy will forever be cherished by his community.

Expressions of sympathy and remembrance have poured in from all corners, reflecting the impact he had on those around him. "So sad to hear about the passing of Kevin," said one mourner. "He seemed to have eternal youth and a sense of fun, also a man blessed with such musical talents. Our sincere sympathy to Frances, Fiona, Geraldine, Kenneth, Ciaran and his beloved grandchildren. Rest in Peace Kevin".

Another mourner shared: "Deepest condolences to Frances and all the family on your great loss. Kevin was a lovely, friendly man who made time for everyone. He was a wonderful musician with a great knowledge of and love for the traditional music of his county and country. Síocháin síoraí dá anam fial, ceolmhar."

Kevin Dowler's impact extended beyond his immediate family, touching the lives of neighbors and friends alike. "Deepest sympathy to Kevin’s family," expressed a neighbour, "He was a great neighbour and always so friendly. He will be really missed."

Memories of Mr Dowler's warmth and generosity are deeply ingrained in the hearts of those who knew him: "Saddened to hear that Kevin has passed away. Remembering fondly, childhood memories of a great neighbour who was hardworking, respectful and most obliging. Thanks Kevin for all the spins you gave us on your tractor as you brought in the hay for us."

Mr Dowler's musical talents were renowned, leaving a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to experience them firsthand. "Deepest sympathy to the Dowler family on the sad passing of Kevin," recalled Eamon Doyle of Drumcong, "Fond memories of his musical sessions along with Dad, plus his wit/sense of humour."

Another mourner shared: "Great memories of his music and above all the time he always made for a chat!"

Mr Dowler, survived by his devoted wife Frances, daughters Fiona and Geraldine, sons Kenneth and Ciaran, and their respective spouses Annette, Linda, and Tony, was deeply cherished by his family. He was also adored by his grandchildren Aidan, Ailise, Roma, Malori, Daniel, Cian, Chloe, Claire, and Gladys, who will carry forward his memory with love and reverence.

Friends and well-wishers will have the opportunity to pay their respects as Mr Dowler lies in repose at St Patrick's Church in Drumshanbo on Thursday, March 14, from 6pm to 8pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, March 15, at 11am, followed by burial in Drumshanbo New Cemetery.

In recognition of the current circumstances, the Funeral Mass will be streamed live on ChurchTV and the Drumshanbo Parish Facebook Page, allowing those unable to attend in person.

The family kindly requests that their privacy be respected during this difficult time, and as such, the house will be private.
