Final plans are being implemented for the North Leitrim Glens annual Hill Walking Festival, and yet again, tickets are sold out for all walks over Easter Saturday and Sunday.
Nuala McNulty, Holey Soles Walking Group, who organises the event, explains that each walk has capped 50 people and cannot exceed this number as this is an insurance requirement. “There is a waiting list for walks should there be any cancellations or ‘no-shows’,” she adds.
The festival base is Dromahair Village, and registration takes place at The Riverbank Clubhouse Restaurant. Walks are to Keelogyboy Mountain on Saturday and along the Greenway and the shores of Lough Gill on Sunday.
A social evening on Easter Saturday is a key part of the Festival. Walkers will enjoy a meal at The Riverbank, and many then plan to head to the Glens Centre in Manorhamilton to hear Campbell/Jenson perform, Ashley Campbell is the daughter of legend country singer Glen Campbell, and Jenson is a well-known virtuoso guitarist.
A busy weekend awaits visitors to the county, where they will walk in the beautiful mountains, eat in a top-class restaurant in Dromahair, and enjoy an international act down the road in Manorhamilton.
