Fáilte go Céilí Cráiceáilte — First Fridays' late-night event promotes engagement with percussive dance and creates pathways for emerging and professional percussive dancers locally, nationally, and internationally. The event takes place on April 5 from 8pm until late at The Dock, Carrick-on-Shannon.
The Dock has partnered with Leitrim Dance Festival for a community céilí with one mighty big band in Saint Mary's Hall with Dave Munnelly, Cathy Jordan, Fergal Scahill, Dave Sheridan, Martin Brunsden and Conal O'Keane.
This free Céilí Craiceáilte is for all ages, and no previous experience is required. Dance callers Edwina Guckian and Yaelle Azoulay will call dances on the night, with some special performances. Everyone is welcome on the floor for a celebration of music, song, and dance.
At the half-time tea break, the local Country Market women will sell their homemade baking, so bring some change to avail of these treats.
Leitrim Dance Festival aims to develop a keener understanding of the relationship between dancer and musician, where the experience of the dance goes hand in hand with the experience of the music.
First Fridays is a series of events curated by Natalia Beylis and special guests on the first Friday of every month. It is part of the Arts Council's Late-Night Events pilot programme.
