IN PICTURES: Easter Hill Walking Festival took place in Leitrim

People from across Ireland joined the annual North Leitrim Glens Hill Walking Festival

People came from all over the country to enjoy two days of walking in the North Leitrim Glens as part of the annual Festival organised by the Holey Soles Hill Walking Group.

The Easter Hill Walking Festival took place from March 30 to March 31 in the beautiful village of Dromahair.

Nóirín Clancy of the Holey Soles said that people from across the country returned to this year's Festival.

"It always surprises us how far they travel. Apart from locals, we welcomed visitors from Armagh, Galway, Wicklow and Dublin, and of course, we're delighted many chose to stay in the area for the holiday weekend," she said.

On Saturday, March 30, walkers enjoyed climbing Keelogyboy Mountain and, afterwards, a festival dinner at The Riverbank Restaurant in Dromahair.

On Sunday, March 31, an easier walk was organised along the Greenway and the shores of Lough Gill, where people were entertained by a spontaneous recital of Yeats's 'Lake Isle of Innisfree' by one of the Dublin visitors.

Along the route, people enjoyed a wander around Creevlea Abbey and, before heading home, delicious soup back at the Riverbank to send them on their way.

The Holey Soles thanked those who contributed sponsorship towards the Festival, Trailblazers, Call of the Wild and Leitrim County Council for their continuous support.

All the guides who saw everyone safely back from the walks were thanked, along with the landowners who gave permission to access their lands.
