Caitríona Bergin (Fine Gael)
Name: Caitríona Bergin
Address: Glenaniff, Rossinver, Co Leitrim
Occupation: Business Consultant & Owner of Caitríona’s Cottages
Party: Fine Gael
Why have you decided to run in the Local Elections?
I believe in the potential of North Leitrim and the strength of our community. My experiences have driven me to advocate for our community. Losing loved ones to suicide has given me a profound understanding of the importance of mental health support.
My work with various community groups and businesses has equipped me with the skills to navigate local governance and drive meaningful change. I am passionate about making North Leitrim the best place to visit, live, work, raise a family, and grow old in and I believe my voice can help achieve that. I want to make a difference!
Why should people vote for you?
I bring a combination of passion, experience, and a proven track record of working with community groups and local council officials to achieve positive change. As a business owner and consultant, experienced in sourcing funding and digital marketing I have the expertise to promote economic growth and job creation in our region.
I am a strong advocate for the environment, social justice, improving local infrastructure and ensuring that families can build a quality life here. I am enthusiastic, motivated, and ready to listen to and address your concerns. Our communities said no to campaign posters, and I listened. I am a woman of action, winning RTE’s Big DIY Challenge, promoting North Leitrim on Nationwide and have been successful in securing millions in funding for construction and education initiatives.
What do you think is lacking in your area and what will you be campaigning for?
In North Leitrim, we need support for mental health services, sustainable economic development by supporting small businesses, better roads and paths, affordable housing, accessible proactive planning for our future generations, child care and general health services.
Economically, I will campaign for increased funding and support for local businesses, tourism, agriculture and community facilities, in particular I will be fighting hard for a swimming pool and leisure centre in Manorhamilton. Together, we can create safer streets, stronger communities, and a vibrant local economy.
I live by the sayings, “Be the change that you wish to see in the world” and “Ní neart go cur le chéile”. On June 7th, I ask for your number 1 vote to make North Leitrim an even better place for all of us.
