First time councillor, Cormac Flynn expressed his disappointment for his running mate Lisa Mulligan who missed out on this occasion.
“She obviously hit the crossbar this time but I know very well that she will be back better and stronger the next time out. I'm also genuinely disappointed for Stephen King, a good town candidate, he ran a massive campaign and didn't make it across the line this time but I'm sure there will be better days ahead for Stephen as well,” said Cormac.
“For my own campaign team, I don't think anyone will understand how hard those guys and girls worked with and for me over the past eight weeks, They are incredible, there wasn't a night we were at home, we were out banging on doors, talking to people, doing our thing. I know the passion that's in our people. I'm happy, but those guys are absolutely ecstatic, that's why we're here,” he said.
Among the priorities for Cormac are making sure that MSLETB open up a college of further education in September 12 months.
“There's loads of small issues that will be dealt with over time,” he said.
Cormac said his family has been involved in the town “a long, long time in terms of education and supporting young people and families to make sure they get to be the best they can be.
“It's just something that is in us as a family and our community that we just want the best for each other and that's what I want for everyone else, to ensure they can fulfil their potential.”
