Keshcarrigan's former Garda Station
Planning permission has been approved by Leitrim County Council to convert Keshcarrigan Garda barracks into a museum and working hub.
The planning application was submitted by Keshcarrigan Development Association in July of this year, seeking changes to the internal layout, the installation of a lift to the first floor and changes to elevations.
On the single storey of the building, there will be a new entrance, new toilets and kitchen and a plant room.
A new raised slated roof will replace the existing galvanised roof on the single storey annex.
The first floor will see alterations to toilet facilities also, and accessible external ramps to the front and rear of the building.
The existing carport will be demolished and the site will be landscaped to allow car and bike parking.
The garage will also be refurbished as a bin store.
The conversion of Keshcarrigan Garda barracks into a community hub is subject to 11 conditions.
The building itself is a protected structure, therefore all works must be carried out under the supervision of a conservation architect in accordance with the provisions of the Architectural Heritage Protection Guidelines for planning authorities.
Another condition listed is that the conversion must be fully completed in line with all plans and details provided in the July planning application.
